Abstract:
“Levitation” is a spiritual rite that celebrates time and space. The subject matter on my installation examines time and space as a spiritual exercise. Dissecting time and space and capturing thru motion studies. The studies in turn create a loop in the forth dimension (time). The relevance of this forth dimension is the key to the spiritual examination of my reality. Amplifying a particular moment in time to create a spiritual understanding. “Levitation” pays homage to the ritual of experiencing time and space by means of an updated pentagram as a platform for spiritual understanding.
Project Description:
I deem it essential in my reality, to create an environment in which levitation and communion are fundamental. The subject of levitation embodies many of the attributes of cross sectioning time and space. This type of phenomenon has a direct relation to a spiritual awakening. A body floating off the ground defying gravity in locations as varied as the people represented performing this supernatural act.
The act of communion is part of the interaction process the audience will have with the installation. For instance the communion will take place when the viewer consumes a fragment of a chocolate sculpture that is specifically designed and sculpted to represent the themes of Cross Sections of time and space. The chocolate symbolizes and embodies the spirit of the project; the consumption of the chocolate will indoctrinate the audience into the spell of the work. If you eat the art you become the art!
